Self-Talk: How does God see you?

Have you ever heard the phrase, “Your words matter”?

To be a bit vulnerable, I tend to struggle with feeling insecure and not being good enough. Because of those feelings, the way I talk about myself can be negative. I get focused on what is seemingly “wrong” with me and then get stuck in those thoughts.

In those times, instead of leaning into how God sees me, I’m allowing our enemy, Satan, to fill my mind with lies and convince me that I’m unlovable.

This is why our words are so incredibly important. If you look at Proverbs 18:21, it says:

“The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat it’s fruit.”

The things we say and think about ourselves are what we believe as truth, even more so than what others say about us. So how do we start to view ourselves as God views us?

One thing that helps me is to purposely reflect on what God says about us in His Word and then speak it out. We have the ability to renew our minds!

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” -Romans 12:2

Choosing to confess God’s Word out loud will overcome the lies and replace them with your identity in Christ. He wants you to love the person He created you to be. This is one of His greatest desires for your life.
